Share Six: June 2026: Landscapes

For Share Six this month we chose the theme {Landscapes}. I have found with traveling that you take a bunch of photos in camera raw, and then when you get home you start editing. Work happens, life happens, the babies are around and before you know it you are traveling again and you have another whole bunch of photos to edit.

This is exactly what happened with the Australia pics. We could not have done as much as we did without Kevin and Jenny taking us along this route. She has been waiting for these images for a while.

One of the most stunning parts of our trip was to travel The Great Ocean Road. Of course, like most trips I checked out places of interest and found so many. The trip took us 3 days there and then one fast trip home and there was so much to see along the way that I have yet to highlight but stopping at he 12 Apostles and then every other look out point along the way that I had highlighted that I wanted to see was just amazing. The coastline is stunning and the outcrops are incredible and I know that I definitely want to do this road again. Possibly at an even slower pace.

We left Melbourne making our way to Lorne, then Cape Otterway. From there it was up to the 12 Apostles (although I think there are only 9 now and then stopping off along the way until we reached the Bay of Martyrs just beyond Peterborough. Looking at my maps I had 12 stopping points. I don’t know if I have names for every image, I will do my best. It’s been 2 years since we were there.

The days were overcast, hazy and at some points raining but it was still one of the best coastlines I have ever experienced.

This stop was the 12 Apostles. It was stunning scenery and there was a stairway down to the beach. Super long. Easy going down, not so easy coming back up.
Then we headed out to the Razorback which really reflects its name. The rocks are jaggered and the rough. The color you see reflects the colors in the rocks. The cliffs are just stunning.
Based on the info we saw there have been some horrific wrecks in this area. The first was about Lord Ard traveling from England to Melbourne. The mist was thick and they watchers on deck suddenly saw the cliffs ahead.
Captain Gibb tried to turn the Lord Ard away from danger, but it was too late. The currents dragged them towards the cliffs. While they tried to get away, the bow struck a reef ultimately sinking the ship
This was called London Bridge and I believe originally this piece of land was one solid piece, however over time the waves and the wind have eroded and separated the two land pieces.
The Grotto was on my absolute, I have to go, not negotiable list. It was a short walk down the stairway to this stunning hole in the wall. The view through was beautiful, the reflections and colors in the water just stunning. If the tide was right, the spray up over the rocks was beautiful. Definitely one on my favorite stops.
The Bay of Martyrs was our last stop over before heading back to our overnight stopping point.
We headed back to Port Campbell for the night before heading home the next day.

Share Six: May 2026: Flowers & Petals

(Flowers and Petals) are the theme for Share Six for the month of May. I love that we can capture the beauty outside along with all the different themes we have had over the years. Flora gives just another perspective of the beauty of creation.

Flowers grace our vases, appear in the gardens, hang from trees, are found on the medium between the highways. The petals make up the flower, that gives me endless joy. My love language is flowers. I love them in my home and I love to see them in the garden.

A field of vibrant yellow flowers with brown centers, consisting of various blooming plants swaying gently in a soft breeze.

I recently drove up the main road on my way to work and I noticed that the county has planted wildflower in the center grass area. I am sure it is to encourage the bee population. It really looks pretty and I can’t help wanting to take the kiddies and plop them down in the middle of it to take a photo. Maybe late on Sunday afternoon when everyone is resting.

A close-up of a white flower with delicate petals, standing tall among green shoots and leaves.

Wild Iris are found in virtually every state. This particular one was found at our local wetlands.

Close-up of a black and white flower, showcasing delicate petals and reproductive parts with pollen detail.

Tulips are one of my favorite flowers, along with orchids and roses. Slowly day by day these tulips have opened leaving just the stigma and a lot of dust from the stamen.

A single white water lily floating on calm water, reflecting its image in the surface, surrounded by green lily pads.

Whether you are walking in the wetlands, botanical gardens or whether you are out kayaking water lily are very often in gracing the water. Soft pinks and whites are the ones I have found the most, but purples, rose colors, yellows and blues are many of the other colors you may find

Close-up of pink orchid flowers with a blurred background of greenery.

Orchids are one of my favorites because aside from being incredibly unique and stunning in their various looks, they also come with a lot of memories. My father was an avid orchid grower and I wish I had his talent but honest the green fingers must have stopped with him. I have memories of spending time with him in his shade house and he would tell me how to pot, repot, mulch, trim roots and various other techniques that he had learned over the years. This was a real passion for him and definitely his happy place. He had over 5000 orchids. I on the other hand currently have 7 and they are alive only because they sit inside the house waiting for me to water them.

A black and white photograph of a delicate flower with wilted petals, standing tall against a softly blurred background.

Tulips are beautiful when new but the are also beautiful as they slowly die and lose their petals.

A vibrant display of red tubular flowers on a green stem, set against a blurred background.

You’re out walking and you cannot resist the sidewalk wildflowers.

Close-up of a thistle plant with sharp, jagged leaves and a developing flower head, set against a softly blurred background.

Thistle are a great filler in a flower arrangement but those pesky little plants have sneaky thorns on them for protection I guess. The spikiness of the plant creates a dramatic effect.

Close-up of a vibrant orange and pink hibiscus flower with droplets of water, surrounded by green foliage and dark mulch.

This past weekend we were in Orlando for a conference and decided to go across to Disney Springs. It started to drizzle so I stood under tree cover with the stroller while Amy tried to get a dinner reservation. In the flower bed below the trees were these beautiful flowers which I used my phone to capture.

Flowers are beautiful. They bring joy to our lives. The color the landscape. They seed and grow more flowers with the help of bees. I am thankful for the beauty of creation that surrounds me.

Share Six: April 2026: Framed

Starting April, there is a shift on how things will be done at Share Six. Due to numerous reasons, for the time being we will no longer post to the Share Six Page or to the Facebook and IG pages. Time constraints have really forced us to do this. But for those that choose to continue to blog, it will still be a circle blog. We have also opened it up so that if the theme does not work for the blog contributor, then they are free to blog whatever they choose. For all of us right now, there is so much going on and it just feels easier this way. We have survived in this group for 10 long years and I know that I am grateful for each and every blogger that has been a part of the group for the past 10 years. They have each brought an interesting and exciting dynamic to the group. And who knows perhaps we will get back to the way we have had it before long.

That said this month’s theme is {Framed}, and so I look at what I had done recently. Most of my free time is helping my daughter with her children. I either have Luka on the weekend, or more recently Ella. Ella is a lot more work than Luka but she is such a joy to have with us.

This past weekend Ella’s daycare invited us to an Easter Egg hunt and while we waited Luka and I headed off to the playground for some climbing and a few photo’s.

What I looked for in each of these images was how the playground equipment framed Luka. Below is another park image on a different day.

For then next images, we had gone to the Lion Country Safari Night of Lights event and there were some cool places to get photo’s

Lastly a couple of our baby girl Ella. She is our joy and she has brought a lot of change into our lives but what a blessing she is to each one of us.

Ella has the most interesting color eyes. Today when I was looking they appear blue on the outside, green in the inner layer and brown in the middle. Then I looked at Amy’s eyes, which I have always thought were green, and they are exactly the same. I have hazel eyes and Richard has blue eyes, hence Amy’s color I guess. Its amazing just how much genetics play in passing on traits.

Ella has become our precious addition and while I have not blogged her as much as Luka, she holds a large part of our heart.

Thank you for joining me on this photography journey. It has been hard of late to pick up the heavy camera and I find myself relying on my phone to get the quick images, but when I do pull out that camera it makes me appreciate the difference. Share Six: March 2026: Daily Life

{Daily Life} is what we all have. The ins and outs of the rhythms of life. Sometimes they are easy days and sometimes they are not. Sometimes I wonder what I have done to deserve the good that I have and sometimes I wonder why hard things happen. Most important though I have been blessed with the gift of family and when my work week comes to an end, family kicks in. Richard is the only one at home, but the kids are close by and I love spending time with them. While I may stop in to see the grandbabies on my way home from the office, it is really a short visit just to check in and say hi.

My {daily life} starts on a Friday and just lately I have been looking after Ella all day Friday and then bringing Luka home for his Friday sleep over. He’s 4 and he loves the park. This particular week Amy had me watch Ella later than normal and so by the time we left it was already 5pm. I thought I would give it a miss. Just before the turnoff he said “park” which then had me detouring 2 traffic lights early to go and play in the park. He loves the slides and climbing and he seems to be in an “obstacle course” mode lately and so instead of climbing up the steps he is climbing up the plastic rocky facade, or the rock wall, or the actual rock climb that they have built to get up to the high slide. We probably stay about 45 minutes and then it is home to the dinner, bath and book reading time before bedtime. Saturday if he is lucky we will go to Chuck E Cheese or we will just stay at home and do pre K prep work or work on puzzles or just play games.

We’ve had some pretty cold weather for South Florida and one of the things you hear when the days turn cold is to watch out for falling iguanas. I love iguana but for the most part they are not popular down here. They can get into the vegetation and people seem to think they eat the birds eggs etc. They are not native to Florida. I have heard all the reasons. As I said I love them. They look prehistoric. They are afraid of you and will run like crazy if you get too close. However with the cold temps they go into some kind of hibernation “frozen” mode where they heart rate slows right down and they look dead. They are an easy target for predators in this mode, animal and human alike. This guy was obviously struggling. I have never seen an iguana that does not run. Clearly the cold had got to him, and he had managed to get up onto the stone outside the back patio and was obviously drawing what heat the stone had and what little sunlight there was. The first time I went out he did not even lift his head. When I went out to take the pic he lifted his head but did not move. By 5pm he was gone. We had another day of cold weather, and I hope he survived, but this is not the best time of the year for iguana. I deemed my back patio a sanctuary city for frozen iguana.

I don’t do well taking care of plants. I love my orchids but because they sit outside I forget to water them (which I need to do today). I have 3 plants in my kitchen. My latest orchid, a green creeper plant that has it’s up and down days, and this Christmas Cactus that has never flowered. I was pleasantly surprised to see flowers on it in February. Orchids and Christmas Cactus reminds me of my dad. Some days I need that reminder because he has been gone from this world for so long. So this was just a little nudge for me. Perhaps he is thinking of me, seeing this cactus finally flower had me thinking of him.

Seems like we have had a number of new babies added to our office space and this week we celebrated baby number 2. I have had fun trying to come up with different themes for the babies – 2 boys so far, but the next one is a little girl. I had not put it in at this stage because I needed to transport the cakes to the office, but behind the balloons on the less decorated cake would go a “It’s a boy” sign.

Throw into the middle of everything during the week, I ended up taking half day to head down to Miami. Back in the day, before social media and texting and WhatsApp etc., when people actually wrote and mailed letters, I had a pen friend living in the UK. We became friends around 1976. In 1987 Richard and I went backpacking in Europe for 4 weeks and then spent another 2 weeks in the UK. We spent time with Andrew in Bolton, UK. Then in 1990, Andrew visited us in South Africa and has some fun memories of elephants, monkeys, spiders and ants after our trip to the game park. In 2005, we met up with Andrew in Orlando. For the first time we met his wife and boys. Now 20 years later they were leaving on a cruise out of Miami that went via the Panama canal and down to South America. Of course, we had to go down to Miami to see them. It was fantastic to see them again and we had a great time catching up on the happenings of the years. Of course, leaving South Beach island at 5pm was neither mine nor Richards idea of fun. It took us over an hour to probably go 5 miles. Loved seeing Dawn and Andrew but Miami traffic, you can have it.

And we are right back to Friday again and a sleep over with my baby girl. She has been sick and 2 antibiotics later she is still struggling. So I watched her Friday at home and then instead of Luka coming for a sleep over, Ms Ella did. We had a good night and a fun day, although I tried to put her on the bed to sleep on Saturday and the only one that seemed to be falling asleep was me.

We ended the weekend off with a few hours at the beach. I have to be honest that since Richard was diagnosed with Melanoma in 2021, I have hardly been to the beach. It was good to get out and actually absorb Vitamin D for a few hours, as well as have fun with the kids. We rounded it off with a dip in a rather chilly pool back at the house before I headed back home. This evening I noticed that I actually got sunburned. More than I expected. Feels good to be honest.

Between work 4 days a week, the babies, my Wednesday night study group, my massage twice a month and watching Ella on a Friday, life has got very busy. But it is worth every minute of it. Being with these babies and watching them grow has been a real blessing and I am thankful for each moment that I have with them.

Thank you for joining us on this photography loop. This is a circle blog and as I mentioned, we have some very talented artists in the group. They bring such diversity to the different topics. Take some time to follow the links and see what they have for you this month. My talented friend Jan or @wiredtothemoon_  is up next. I always look forward to seeing what she has to share.

Share Six: February 2026: Low Light

Well that is the first month of the year done and dusted and I am still not sure what happened to it. It’s been a tough start to the new year and a couple of weeks were made up of sleepless nights and I have had to do some re-evaluations and look at what is needed and what is wanted and tried to find the middle road of what next. One day at a time is what I firmly believe is what we can do.

Which means I have not done a lot of getting out and taking photographs. However, I have pulled together a few of my favorites that are (Low Light)

Inside the Seattle Library – at the gift shop
Taken at an outdoor fair in a shady walk way.
I was standing the foyer of the church that I attend, and looked up.
This is one of my favorites of Luka watching his ipad when he was much smaller. Now it is the tv or we read books.
An overcast evening outside.
I love playing with books and focus and this was one of the fun experiments that I played with.
If I recall correctly this was taken in a music museum in Nashville. The light inside was awful and the best I could get with this image was black and white.
Walking around Gainsville I came across this bicycle that had obviously been around for a while. So much so that the Spanish Moss was growing over it.
Another low light book experiment
One of my favorite walking spots. This particular part of the walkway is very shady and so the low light here worked for me.

Sometimes life throws you curveballs you were not expecting and my faith aside, the ability to create art when there is challenges, is a gift I am thankful for. This group of bloggers is another gift that I am thankful for.

Thank you for joining us on this photography loop. This is a circle blog and as I mentioned, we have some very talented artists in the group. They bring such diversity to the different topics. Share Six: January 2026: Weather

Happy New Year to you all. May 2026 be all that you are hoping for and may the blessings be rich. The first theme of the year is {Weather} and for most of the team they hopefully have weather images that have managed to capture. For me down south there really is not a lot of change in the weather. Those two token cold days appear and disappear very quickly. Which I hate because I could really do with some cold these days. And by the end of summer I am a winter wanna be.

The end of the year has been a rush for me with our trip to New Orleans for 2 weeks, then back to work for 2 weeks then off again for a week, then back to work for 3 weeks and off again for 2 weeks. I have felt a little off and having to do catch up while wanting to spend time with the kiddies as well.

That said we did have a small change in the weather for hot to cool to cold back to hot again, the cold culminating on New Years Eve.

We started out on Monday with a warm winters day, enough that we decided to do one more trip through Lion Country Safari before our pass expired. Of course part of that is the splash pools and Luka is game for the slides any opportunity he can get. It was a little frustrating as they want you to be 42 inches. He is but according to the lifeguards he has to be at the top of the measure and not at the bottom. At Legoland he was allowed to go on all the slides. Here he could only use the small kiddie slide. One of the things I am not crazy about at these water parks is the huge bucket of water at the top. It has a great effect, but I worry that that amount of water landing on the neck of a young child is dangerous. That said it does have warning beeps but if the child doesn’t know what that means then it is a potential problem. Luka has narrowly missed having this load of water on top of him.

Tuesday came around and was a pretty pleasant morning, but by the time my cousin and his family arrived the weather was starting to cool down. I had not seen my cousin for close on 18 years and at that time it was at my mothers funeral so it was kind of a hi, thank you and move on to the next person. We opted to do lunch rather than dinner and then I took them for a short walk in the wetlands, before heading on to the South African shop for the family to buy some SA goodies. My drive back home was cold and the sky was pretty impressive.

New Years Eve morning was cold, chilly, and any other word you could think for it. My friends up north, I am sure were freezing. I know my friend in Dallas was. Amy had invited us to dinner and they planned to do a bonfire. Richard said it was too cold to go, but I decided I was going. While it was cold, the wind had died down somewhat and the fire generated enough warmth to actually have to move your chair back.

It was cold enough that we bundled Luka up into a sweatshirt and sweatpants with shoes and socks. We tried to put a jacket on over that but he was not having it. While dad was barbecuing, Luka was prepping his food to barbecue.

Daniel built a fantastic firepit and we got to enjoy a really warm evening as a result. He had numerous layers of wood on top of each other and I said it resembled a funeral pyre it was so well done. And it burned well and certainly kept us warm during the cold evening. Added to that I had given them a smores pack for Christmas and so they were tested out. Only thing I forgot to put in was skewers and so they had to improvise.

Added to that they had bought a small pack of fireworks to let off once it got dark so that Luka could enjoy them. He loved it but had his hands over his ears they whole time. Ella on the other hand was not to happy with the noise and so most of them were let off after she went to bed.

As the evening wound down, so did the fire to some beautiful hot coals.

Out of all of us Ella was the most dressed up in her sweatsuit and double socks and grandma’s hat. We also had to put some socks on her hands at one stage just before she went to bed. I did not stay until midnight. I did not want to be driving on the road when everyone was heading home, so I left around 10pm and just saw midnight in at home.

Friday was still somewhat chilly although the weather was starting to warm up. This began the weekend of the grandmothers watching the children while the parents took a quick 3 day vacation. Luka was with me, while Ella got to stay with her Baba. Friday night’s sunset was spectacular and we worth feeling the chill to get this image.

Saturday was warming up and Luka and I headed to the park for some energy release time. He loves to play at the park and this one was in his community. I went up during the day to help with Ella. She is more work than Luka is.

Today it feels like we are back to summer. While the kids are away the grandparents get to play. This morning I took Ljubica, Luka and Ella to breakfast. This is really her last full weekend here and after being here for 6 months this coming weekend she will be heading back home. I think it will be a hard adjustment all round. She has been living with them for 6 months and Luka in particular will miss not having her there every day.

Today he was a little out of sorts, and so while Ella was sleeping, I took him to the local park about 10 minutes away. He clearly goes there fairly often because he is familiar with all the different slides and climbing options. I am like a helicopter grandmother but I am nervous that he might fall.

That has been the weather for us. I wish I had snowflakes and that kind of scenery but to be truthful if I did have that I would probably be inside the house with a bottle of Frangelica and a good fire lol.

Thank you for joining us on this photography loop. This is a circle blog and as I mentioned, we have some very talented artists in the group. Take some time to follow the links and see what they have for you this month. My talented friend Lupji of Lupji Photography is up next. I look forward to seeing what he has to share.

I look forward to blogging this year with the team again. They bring such diversity to the different topics that I hope that we are all able to contribute throughout the year.

Until next time..

Share Six: December 2025: Free Choice

The last two months have been the contributors choice. Everyone is so busy now. There is a lot of Christmas Photoshoots going on, mini’s and for me I have done back to back traveling. We did the trip to the Southern States, through Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Georgia. We were only home for 2 weeks and the second week was packing to head out on a Thanksgiving cruise to Key West, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. I feel whiplashed. I have 3 weeks of work and then I am off the last 2 weeks of the year again. I will need to plan it better in the coming year. Bucket list dream Ireland, and Richard would like to tag on Iceland to the trip. Still thinking that one through.

However, I am now sitting with a bunch of photo’s to edit and not sure what I want to do this month. After downloading my images I decided to edit the Pumpkin Patch photos . Each year I have gone to a local church with Luka and taken his photo. Its been interesting to see the change in him over the years. This is the first year with Ella. Weather was overcast and we managed to catch a short break in the rain.

Luka has got this smile recently. It says cheese and stop taking my photo.

This is often our sweet boy, pensive and waiting to see what is going to happen.

But I love it when he lets go a little and has a whole lot of fun

Ella is new to outdoor photography and she still needs help sitting up so I had to creatively remove hands that are holding her. She’s a really serious baby until she smiles.

And when she does smile her whole face lights up. I love it when she smiles at me. We took a while to bond because she was big into stranger danger, but now when I speak to her her smile just grows.

At this point Luka has had enough of the photos and is ready to call it quits.

This photo tells me exactly what he is thinking. I think it is going to be a challenge getting Christmas photo’s this year.

I had to do an arm removal here as well. Like Luka she is not a petite child. She is tall and well built, but in time she will start shooting up like he did. Quite often I look at pics of him and I can see so much of her.

This photo was off but it is one of my favorites. The lighting was too dark and when I lightened it it felt wrong and there is some hand movement, but I loved this pic of him.

He already holds my heart in his hands, and she is well on her way to doing the same. I look forward to having more time with both of them in the coming year.

Thank you for joining us on this photography loop. This is a circle blog and as I mentioned, we have some very talented artists in the group. Take some time to follow the links and see what they have for you this month. My talented friend Lupji of Lupji Photography is up next. I look forward to seeing what he has to share.

I wish you all a festive season with your family and friends. May it be a time of blessing, lots of love, laughter and joy. And if you have littles like we do I hope that they love tearing the wrapping paper off of their presents 🙂

Until next time..

Stay well

Share Six: November 2025: Your Choice

This month we are doing something different. We are all busy as the year comes to a close and some of us were traveling. So we left the them open for each blog contributor to show their own choice for the blog this month.

For me, Richard and I had a 10 road trip planned starting out at Legoland to celebrate our little guys 4th birthday. We have never been to Legoland and so we did not know what to expect, but it was going to be a family affair for sure. We opted to stay at a hotel outside of Legoland and walk into the park each day. It wasn’t that far but when you are pushing a stroller with a baby, having a 4 year old who is walking, me lugging my heavy camera (and big mistake I bought a canvas bag to carry my camera I quickly learned it weighed a ton). While I love it as a bag I don’t see myself using it for my camera at all. Looking at my photo’s somewhere along the way I switched from my camera to my cellphone. So you have a mix of camera and phone photos

Heads up, its going to be a long post as I would like to get Legoland all done in one blog.

When you are traveling with kids, you always have to make a pit stop. Mom and dad had Ella, but we had Luka as he had slept over the night before.

We have never been to Legoland and we were not sure what to expect, but there were definitely some fun Lego characters.

Having walked half the park, the family decided the needed to eat and so we walked all the way back to the entrance so that we could go an eat at the restaurant. Did I mention Legoland has a lot of walking. Think Disney and all the hidden treasures.

Luka had a hard time focusing on eating or playing with blocks and most of the time the blocks won.

Of course, poor Ella is stuck in a stroller. This is her resting face. Our little girl is one serious baby but when she cracks a smile her whole face lights up.

Back in the park and Luka enjoyed a circular train ride that was super speedy and while it looked like it may have been fun, Luka’s baba got off of it and vowed she was not going on another ride. Next was the Carousel. Amy went on that with him.

Then came the biggie for our little four year old. Daniel said let him ride the horse. None of us thought he would go on his own but he did and he loved it. This has resulted in horse riding lessons on a real horse.

One thing I love about these parks is there is always a lot of color. We are back at the Dinosaur roller coaster.

The weather was off so initially the Dinosaur roller coaster was shut down so we headed off to the laser tag. Richard, Amy and I went with Luka. He loved that. Then it was back to the roller coaster. I am not a fan of roller coasters and apparently Daniel is not either. So the adrenalin junkies, Richard and Amy headed off with Luka to ride the Dragon rollercoaster. Above was Luka after the rollercoaster.

Next was another first, and I am not sure I was too happy about this one but he did go on is own. It was kind of a tower of terror for kiddies. The seat went up and down. Luka grabbed on to a stranger kid and did not let go until he was off the ride.

Of course there is always and African section and it always draws me to it. When I see the animals (even it they were only made out of Lego) it reminds me of home and there are times when I miss the smell and sights of Africa.

It’s spooky season in preparation for Halloween and so there were a lot of ghostly Lego characters around the park.

While Richard, Daniel, Luka and Baba went into the Ninja activity, Amy and I took Ella to a park table to feed her, get her out of the stroller and give her some tummy time.

Next up was a water activity that Daniel and Luka rode. It basically went around in circles but he seemed to have fun with it.

We spent some time walking around trying to find a boat ride that Amy said was in the park but it appears it was shut down for some reason. Next up was the Lego city and I think this may have been my favorite part of the park. I walked around thinking, I have been there at some point.

Vegas, check

Vegas, Check

St Augustine, check.

Miami, South Beach, check

This is probably the section where I took the most photo’s but there was too many to add to the blog.

Finally at about 4:30pm we were all walked out and decided to head back on the marathon walk to the hotel. On the way out I snapped a family pic of Luka with his dad, Daniel and Daniels mom, Luka’s Baba. (which is grandmother in Macedonian)

To end off the evening we headed down to a Mediterranean restaurant for dinner. Walking back there was a fireworks display that we would have seen had we stayed in the park.

The next morning we were back in the park and ready to visit the “Sea” section. It was going to be a short day for Rich and I. We needed to leave no later than 2 to arrive at our next stop on our road trip.

The aquarium was a lot of fun and Luka really enjoyed looking in the windows, walking in the tunnels, and heading into the pop ups to get a closer view. Of course, the photographer gets pictures of him with everyone but herself. I need to get in more with him.

Next we headed up to the waterpark, which of course was at the furthest part of the park. There were all sorts of activities involving water, a lazy river, a wave pool, waterslides. Luka has gone to the water park at Lion Country Safari often, but he has always stuck to the little slide, and so he started out there feeling quite comfortable. At some point Daniel took him up to the big slide and next thing we know he is heading down the slide on his own, and he kept going back. As Richard said, it appeared that this little guy had had a real boost to his confidence this weekend.

He even got to “ride” the waves in the wave pool with Daniel.

Overall Luka had a super fun 4 year old celebration. At this point we had to leave, but they stayed and had more fun with him and went to the fireworks celebration. The next day they headed to the coast and took him on a dolphin ride. We headed up to Tallahassee overnight on our next leg of our road trip to New Orleans.

Thank you for joining us on this photography loop. This is a circle blog and as I mentioned, we have some very talented artists in the group. Take some time to follow the links and see what they have for you this month. My talented friend Lupji of Lupji Photography is up next. I look forward to seeing what he has to share.

Until next time..

Share Six: October 2025: Black and White

This month has flown and I found myself being asked for links and realized that I had not done anything and I have a busy day today. However, there is only one thing on my mind this week and that is celebrating the beautiful wonder that has been placed in our lives.

I wasn’t sure how I felt about becoming a grandmother, but these little lives sneak into your heart and before you know it you are doing everything you can for your babies.

Luka is our first grandchild and he has been such a blessing and a joy in our lives. He holds my heart in the palm of his hands. It fascinates me how much they change over the years. This little guy has the sweetest heart, biggest blue eyes, and hugs that just wrap around you. He was a sickly baby with lots of ear infections and so from a very early age I would take him on my free day and I would have him at the house. I have shares in this little guy. It has been such a wonderful experience to watch him grow and see how he changes along the way.

Below is Luka over the last 4 years

Today we celebrated his birthday early because next weekend we are heading on a road trip for another fun birthday celebration for him. He had a dinosaur party with a giant dinosaur slide, and a dinosaur pinata, and a dinosaur cake.

Today we celebrated a special little boy, the little guy of my heart. I can honestly say that I love being a grandmother and I love and appreciate all the time I get to spend with him. I cannot wait for Fridays when he comes for a sleepover each week. We try to do some educational time, some fun time, and as much as I try, I still haven’t mastered the clean up time. But we are working on it.

My talented friend Liz of It’s Still Life Photography is up next and her teaser image is stunning. I can’t wait to see what she has to share.

Until next time..

Share Six: September 2025: Stairs

The theme is {Stairs} and I have to say it is one of my favorites. Whenever we travel, I am out looking for interesting stairs.

It helps to look up a lot of the time. Also walking past alleyways. Visiting old buildings. There are so many different options.

Below the next three images are taken at a Historic site in South Florida, Viscaya museum. It is one of my favorite places to take folks to visit. Snug in the Bay of Biscayne in Miami, the home of the Deering family.has a history of old money. opulence, and a home that had many famous visitors. The gardens are huge and you can spend so much time just marveling at the vision that is found in your walk around. The house, now a museum is double story and restored to the days of the Deering family. The first image is taken from the second floor looking down. The second and third were taken in the gardens.

Spiral Staircase

Some of my favorite set of stairs while traveling were found in Seattle. The next two were taken in the Seattle Library. It was 10 floors, we took the elevator to the top and then started walking down the stairs to each level. The escalator goes from the basement floor level up to the ground floor level.

The next three were found walking around Seattle. The city is full of all different types of stairs and we walked the city all 6 days of our stay there.

The next two were found in one of the older towns in Georgia, Savanah. Home to the Savannah River and the river boats that dock along the pier. It is a old harbor down and steps in the second photo down are typically your steps going from the road level to the pier level. They are fine going down but going back up the steps are higher than the normal steps. The first photo was taken walking around the city looking at the houses.

There is just something about these beautiful double sided stairs that I found at the Gaylord in Nashville. Home to country music I felt that this was indicative of the old colonial homes found in the south. I have visions of ballrooms and waltzing and gaiety.

Again another favorite photo taken in Sydney Australia. I have used this photo before in my blogs but there is just something that pulls me back to it again and again.

When you are out walking the city, remember to look up, look around, look down alleyways, there are stairs everywhere and some of them really pull you in. For me I am not used to seeing stairs outside a building. Florida homes are generally not more than double story. So stairs outside of a building are fascinating. But the highlight of the stairs was definitely the Seattle Library, and if you ever get a chance to visit it, I would definitely encourage you to do so.
