Tell me a Story: January 2016

I started with the group Tell me a Story in March 2014.  The object of the group was to take 1 day in the month and blog on it.  It has been fun, and I have learned a lot about the different members of the group. Along the way I became an Admin of the group.  This year I asked the group member is they would like to take things up a notch, and perhaps for the year, blog on a quote.  The interpretation is open, blog on how the quote speaks to you personally.  The quote for this month is as follows:

Every now and again take a good look at something not made with hands – a mountain, a start, the turn of a stream.  There will come to you wisdom and patience and solace and, above all, the assurance that you are not alone in the world.

~ Sidney Lovett

When I looked at this quote my thoughts obviously turned first to nature.  Nature in itself is an untold beauty for me.  Looking back at the quote the words “not made with hands” stood out.  It is not made with hands, yet it could be created. This past weekend we had tornado threats over a couple of days of the weekend.  Added to that we had a whole lot of rain.  Each morning I go outside to feed the ducks.  Walking back in I passed a tree orchid that I have.  Truly a parasite on a palm tree because I think it only flowers once a year and then only one stem off the multiple bulbs that it has.

Facing directly towards me was exactly what I was looking for.  Created in nature… Beauty beyond expression.  Masters at building. Although I am not sure that I would want to be alone in the world with the creators of these masterpieces.

It seems like the spiders have had a spurt in web building in our back garden. Combine that with rain and you have a beautiful piece of creation in front of you.  Halfway through taking the images, I was photobombed by a squirrel.   I hope you enjoy my interpretation of the quote.

  1. Stunning work, Sharleen. Love the multiple angles and depths of field. Some of those almost look like they could be pieces of jewelry. My favorite is the third from the last. Just beautiful!
