Share Six: September 2024: Trees

This month Jan of @wiredtothemoon_ chose the theme {Trees}. I love this topic. Trees are vital to our lives. Trees give off oxygen which we as humans breathe in, and during photosynthesis they take in the carbon dioxide that we breathe in. Trees are important in the survival of human nature. I love seeing the various green spaces created in various cities, where they buildings have greenery hanging on the sides of the buildings and an abundance of trees in close proximity. It saddens me to see green spaces chopped down so that someone can develop million dollar residences that they average person cannot afford.

Welcome to Florida, where development is going crazy. It is also the city of Palm, Trees in abundance. In fact when we bought our home it was regulated that we had to have a queen palm in the front of our property. Truthfully, they are not the best tree to have in hurricane season. When they topple it could potentially be dangerous. That said the other trees we have in the neighborhood have a great big canopy and very shallow roots. Most of those come down in a hurricane.

This was taken in Lake Placid depicting the outdoor Florida area. I was surprised to see a dragon reading a book in the middle of that.

For me, trees are the natural habitat for so much wildlife. I spend a fair bit of time (in the cooler weather) walking in the wetlands. Best time of the year is from late January to early when the birds are nesting and the trees are full of wildlife.

Trees also provide beauty in the form of flowers and the color of leaves.

The fall in the north is a spectacular range of colors from browns, to oranges, to yellows and reds. It is worth the trip to see the changing of the seasons.

I have had some fun playing with trees with my Lensbaby optics.

Sometime back we had an them for ICM. I took this photo of these trees. I love the look the movement created with this trees. Its kind of stark and desolate.

Trees and sunsets are a good combination especially when you catch a bird in the branches as well.

And of course, we have our own Florida Christmas trees. Come Christmas all of the neighborhood plants are lit up and I will say the palm trees do look pretty when they are all light up.

Talking Christmas, can you believe it is just around the corner. So given that we are talking trees, I thought I would share my favorite sort of tree. This one is taken with my Lensbaby Sweet 35.

Trees to more good than harm, so when you think about chopping down a tree ask yourself what they benefits of having the tree nearby.

This is a circle blog and as I mentioned, we have some very talented artists in the group. Take some time to follow the links and see what they have for you this month. My incredibly talented friend Liz of It’s Still Life Photography by Elizabeth Willson is up next. I can’t wait to see what she has to share. You can see more of her work by clicking on her Instagram page.

Until next time, stay well.
